Not the end of liquidity from a bankrupt Wall Street, not some unknown Asian whale, not the South Korean exchange that accidentally gives away BTC, no. Instead, it's the success of stablecoins: currencies mintable at will, freezable at will of the issuer. In other words, the programmable money that everyone rightly fears when talking about CBDCs, and what's more, issued by private entities, often based offshore, rather than a central bank under national laws.

The smart contracts that the plucked anthropomorphic poultry believe to be cryptocurrencies, so unseizable and unblockable like Bitcoin, but they aren't.

How else to digitize money? People have been using digital currencies for a long time (with bank cards, or payment brokers like Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Satispay etc), but they don't accept CBDCs as they don't accept the concept of programmable money stated as such, and rightly so. Well, they do it by making the masses believe that stablecoins are crypto and dangling them right under their noses.

This way, liquidity shifts and money returns to the full control of banks and fintech “new banks” out of personal possession. Social media censorship and the requirement to log in for everything complete the picture, keeping the slaves in chains in their large indifference, since they're so used to it.

I strongly suggest you think about this and GET OUT of fiat currency, and therefore out of stablecoins NOW. Crypto has many problems, Bitcoin included, but we have nothing better to avoid being slaves. End up on stablecoins, as is happening now, and we will ALL be screwed by the ignorance of the many and the greed of the few. We, plural, because whatever we know or think, we live in a society and are therefore forced to pay with the currencies that the majority accepts.

It is time for empires to collapse; they can no longer produce progress, only harm to humanity, delaying human development by centuries rather than accelerating it and when they do innovate, they do so in a way that's only interesting to the handful of people at the top, whose interests generally conflict with those of the rest of humanity.

I think a society is, maybe by nature, built on a base that is enslaved, emotional and incapable of rationality; but it's one thing to have such base, and quite another to have 99.99999 percent of people enslaved with just a few folks in charge, as Clinton Roosevelt dreamed of in his The Science Of Government, Founded On Natural Law.

Quelli così bravi che non sanno manco perché son li, mentre i talenti devono sprecar tempo ed energie da soli per levarsi dal medioevo che gli ex maggiori innovatori degli ultimi secoli ancora portano avanti.

For some time now, we've been seeing “age verification” for various websites, not necessarily pornographic ones, under the pretext of “protecting children” (from what nobody knows, given that Reddit is full of porn and isn't subject to this verification, just to give a massive and well-known example), and we're starting to see it being used for mere censorship.

Meanwhile, we see how Reddit, for those who use it Meta etc, massively censor users who publish things unwelcome to whichever GAFAM company is involved, essentially the nazi international, because this is what stems from the anglophone kleptocracy and those who follow it worldwide.

So, a short post to suggest thinking about it, remembering that this isn't the first attempt to take the mickey under the guise of protection. Think of the controversies over “scanning everyone's files” in search of child porn and photos of one's own toddler having a bath being flagged, while sites that actually sell real child porn proliferate happily. Think of ChatControl, the subsequent EU implementation of the same trend, and so on.

You know the principle; it's Chomsky's Boiling Frog metaphor. It proceeds in tiny steps that seem innocent to the average person, distracted by the suffocating and fast-paced life they have, submerged in social media content from the giants, empty content designed to generate dopamine and PR to persuade, which added together lead to formal dictatorship. Today, sites are blocked “by age”; tomorrow, the identity of an unwelcome journalist will prevent access to the sites that 99% of people use to communicate, de facto cutting them out of society.

Now think of the individuals sanctioned by the EU, having their bank accounts frozen, making their lives impossible, without having committed crimes or being put on trial and condemned for them. So far, I've gathered: Xavier Moreau, Frédéric Baldan, Jacques Baud, Nathalie Yamb, Alina Lipp, Hüseyin Dogru, Thomas Röper, and Nathalie Yamb, but I don't know how many others there are. What I do know is that if someone were to become a PR for an opposing regime, as they are said to be (a thing anyway formally perfectly legal, as free speech BTW), we should have seen their manifestos widely circulated. Because these are the voices that the EU nazi-Commission push. Instead, most people know nothing about these people. Censorship works; here, it's just the same as in China. Here, as in China, most people don't see it.

Think about it, because in the end, it will be your turn too.

Here the news (Ars), per se it's nothing special, a search engine decide not to index/show a large batch of websites, but the meaning is much more relevant.

The further we progress, the more we see FLOSS projects emerging to provide freedom of expression, while the giants try to strip it away, no longer just by creating walled gardens for their services, but by actively hiding the rest of the world, the free world, from those inside.

Initially, censorship targeted email. Anyone running their own mail server on a domestic IP, something perfectly legal and once common among many techies, is blocked by the giants; my private emails simply don't reach those using GMail, YMail, and so on. If a GMail user writes to me, my replies are flagged as SPAM, even if they aren't spam at all. This hasn't been very visible because most people don't know anyone with a private email address or a even a personal domain name; emails also aren't that easy to host despite efforts to create “easy-deploy” solutions. From there, censorship has only escalated, while attempts are made to fix the absurdity of communication systems that only talk to themselves, whereas with email or Usenet everyone can talk to everyone else, platforms like WA or FB Messenger only talk to themselves. Trying to “fix” this means peering between them and only them, to continue OWNING their users, isolating them from the rest of the world and ensuring their enslavement through the herd effect; quite simply, many people I know have WA and nothing else, and since I don't have it, they pressure me to install it.

This news is just one of the latest events in a long chain of the erasure of personal ownership (you live on lease on someone else's platform), of free expression (the giants censor, you can only publish what they want, and it will appear in the search results of others exactly where they decide), and ultimately, of the free world.

This is why, even though the unity that once existed in the FLOSS world is missing today, and the bulk of developers no longer know how to design architectures, having been trained as high-ranking code monkeys rather than with a big-picture vision, it is more necessary than ever to own your own tools and push this model, rejecting slavery while there is still room to do so.
